Rotary in Austria
Rotary has been established for a great many years in Austria. Austria traditionally was the border between East and West. It was therefore not unexpected that after the collapse of Communism, Austria should play a major role in establishing, encouraging, and support for Rotary which was establishing itself in the countries adjacent to it or in close proximity to it.
Both District 1910 & 1920 are heavily involved in Rotary in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, and Croatia. Much on this website has been supplied by courtesy of those 2 districts whose excellent internet material we have taken onboard "as is".
The Districts have provided translations of very useful Rotary material in the vernacular. Again we have made good use of that.
We feature an extensive website of the Geras-Waldviertel RC. This Club shows just how extensively their Rotary activities are aimed at a support role to the Pioneers who brought Rotary to their neighbouring countries. Just note the programme wherein 200 Youth Annually enjoy a Rotary Exchange in order to learn foreign languages and skills and the ongoing support for the poor and disadvantage and orphaned children. There is no excuse in the Geras-Waldviertel RC to sit still and watch the world go by. Many Rotary Club may well be inspired by the good example ostensibly set by that Austrian Rotary Club which we have picked as representative of Austrian Rotary Clubs!
